If developers can hinge on the reality that fanboys will coax would-be consumers into purchasing their game—and attack those who feel indifferent post-launch—then, in all actuality, they wouldn’t feel the need to improve. Fan boys, for lack of a better word, are what worker bees are to the queen bee; a drone; someone who refuses to see how valuable they are when juxtaposed to how desperately others need them. They’re perfectly content with being who they are, even though sustaining that particular mindset is done at their own detriment. Perhaps the best way to abstain from such a mentality is to adopt an entirely different mindset? Think outside the box, question what seems awry, regardless if it’s from a beloved franchise. After all, you’re the one paying for it. It’s only natural that, at the end of the day, you’re content with what you receive.
